Par Baked

What is Par Baked all about?

So what’s better than sourdough bread straight from the bakery oven?
How about the same sourdough bread straight from the oven in your own home?
Enjoy the freshest possible bread there is to indulge in, and even better, your home will carry the aroma of freshly baked bread for everyone to gather around. Family dinners and breakfasts have never tasted better.

We have already done most of the baking in our professional ovens and the bread/pastry arrives fully baked from the inside. The purpose of doing the last leg of the baking process in your home oven is to allow the crust & final colour to develop and for you to enjoy a warm and fresh artisan bread/pastry whenever you feel like it.

We did quite a few blind tests before we launched this product line, finishing off the baking a couple of days after the first leg of the baking, freezing and baking after a week or two and the results were always the same - the par baked item tasted the same or even better than an item that was fully baked in one go.

And don’t worry, our par-baked items use the exact same fresh ingredients and the same careful preparation as our regular sourdough bread and is 100% free from Preservatives.

Enough with the introductions, let’s fill the house with hearty aromas.

Already received a Par Baked product from us?

Leave the product in the airtight bag until you are ready to bake as it helps keep the moisture. If you do not intend to bake on the same day you receive it, then place it in the freezer until the day you plan to bake.

Sourdough Bread

Instructions

  • In case you froze the bread, take it out in advance and defrost it

  • Adjust your oven shelf so the bread is at least 15cm/ 6 inches away from the top of the oven

  • Turn on your oven according to the temperature required for your bread (See below). Ideally select a program without a fan.

  • Spray water on top of the bread (use a water sprayer, a pastry brush dipped in water or simply wet you hands and pat the bread)

  • Once oven is hot, put the bread in the middle of the oven and bake for the duration recommended for your bread

  • As ovens vary, we put the recommended baking time in a range. We recommend that you set a timer to the duration of the lower limit and from that point on, stay close to the oven to keep an eye on the bread as it can go from golden colour to burnt very quickly. Once the bread reaches the desired colour, take it out of the oven and let it cool for at least 30 minutes before cutting it

  • Remember at which time you remove the bread from the oven and next time simply bake for the same duration

  • Now all that is left is to enjoy
